patriot (pāˈtrē-ət, -ŏtˌ)

n.   One who loves, supports, and defends one's country.

Though it is impossible to list, let alone, write about the thousands of patriots who contributed to the founding of the United States of America, the following is a partial list of some who truly dedicated themselves to the cause. None were perfect, but all displayed characteristics worthy of emulation by those who truly desire to be "Modern-day Patriots."
